Centenary 2014
Kelburn Normal School will Celebrate its Centenary during the weekend of Friday 16 May - Sunday 18 May 2014
Kelburn Normal was established in 1914. It was built at the same time as the original Wellington Teachers’ Training College, also located in Kowhai Road, Kelburn. This established a strong link between the school and its teacher education function.
In the early 70’s the school was rebuilt on the same site, while the Wellington College of Education relocated to its current campus in Karori. A Visual Resource Centre was built on the old College site.
We are calling for interested parties to join the Centenary Planning Committee and for past pupils to share their memories with us. If you would like to be involved in the planning of this special celebration or have some stories to share please contact the school office by phone 475 9351 or email: centenary@kelburnnormal.school.nz
